James Carroll in the Boston Globe is the voice of reason in an unreasonable world. Let us pray that the world realizes that war is an abomination.

With all the world's problems comes another. Of lesser impact, but affecting the populations involved. The people and the elk of Colorado. Solution. Depends on who is doing the talking. At least the people ARE talking.

Gonzales, Gonzales, Gonzales. This man gets scarier and scarier as time goes on. Shades of dictators everywhere. We need to stop the madness of this administration before it ruins us all. They have ruined our stature in the world and now are continuing to ruin our form of government. All in the name of stopping terrorism.

Well now. Gonzales is thinking of prosecuting journalists. We are surely going down the slippery slope of a police state. Everything the Bush administration does is in the name of terrorism. Seems like terrorism rules.

Bush says in today's speech in Yuma that immigrants should learn English. What about an ex-Texas governor? Does that apply to the pres also?

Concerning that letter from the president of Iran. It could have been a starting point to some conversations. No, instead Rice dismisses it as nothing new and we won't even give it the light of day. Agreed that Iran is off the deep end as to the remainder of the world, we need to keep the lines of comunication.

I'm getting the impression that this whole Iraq mess needs to end. Duh. The Iraqis don't seem to want us or our supposidly allies. Just yesterday they attacked a downed English copter. They are also intent on destroying each other. All the votes that have happened have led to nothing, zip. NO Government despite our prodding. Lets get out now. They dont want us or need us.

Doesn't the US have another way to conduct global business except threats? Seems that our diplomacy is geared to "we'll blow you up if you don't do as we wish". My question is why should other countries do as we wish? If we believe that other countriies are sovereign nations, then we should but out of their business. In the case of Iran weshould go to them and ask: what are your greatest problems and then offer to help them solve those problems. Why not give that a try, since all our other efforts are getting nowhere.
